Gammel Dansk Brombær offers a refreshing and fruity taste like wild, sun-ripened blackberries, elegantly complemented by warm, dark notes from carefully selected herbs, fruits, and spices.

Its pleasant and rounded flavor is crafted to be enjoyed in a variety of settings: after a round of golf, on a fishing trip, following a cold winter swim, with your morning coffee, or as a refreshing treat at summer festivals.

With an alcohol content of 30%, this herbal liqueur achieves a perfect balance of sweetness, depth, and warmth.

INGREDIENTS

The natural ingredients are one thing we haven’t changed about our new Brombær.

Black berries are probably the most common fruit to be found in gardens and in wild nature across every part of Denmark. Most Danes can relate to picking blackberries and experiencing the perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness with picking one that is just fully ripe. This makes blackberries a perfect match not only to a bitter and herbal liqueur - but a perfect match to the brand Gammel Dansk. It simple does not get more Danish than that.

The unique combination of natural herbs encompasses a great number of different flavour impressions. These come from the well known ingredients such as blackberries of course - but also blueberry, fennel, star anise, orange flower, cardamom, rowanberries.

MANUFACTURE

Manufacture is characterised by good old-fashion craftsmanship, if we may say so. Brombær is the result of thorough taste-testing of a long list of fruit juices, extracts and distillates made from natural spices such as berries, bark, flowers and herbs. This has been bottled and given the name Gammel Dansk Brombær. A bottle that of course retains its characteristic appearance.

TO BE ENJOYED

Even though Gammel Dansk Brombær is a newcomer, it is still available at various bars and pubs all over Denmark. We recommend that you enjoy it neat. It is a very pleasant taste experience and far less bitter than its predecessor. In fact the legal definition of Brombær is a so-called herbal liqueur and not a bitter. This is due to the rounded sweetness, mirroring the taste experience of sun ripe black berries. With 30% alcohol strength, Gammel Dansk Brombær should still be enjoyed in moderation, just like so many other things in life.

We are perfectly aware that the original Gammel Dansk puts your tastebuds to the test, that Gammel Dansk is something some people have to get used to the taste of. You might call it an exercise in acclimatisation. The same could be said about coffee, or even beer when it comes down to it. After all, not everyone is enamoured with the characteristic bitter flavour on their first encounter.

Gammel Dansk Brombær is a very kind of outreach to those people. In fact by definition it is a herbal liqueur not a bitter. It is a kind of a soft embrace. The juice from the blackberries mixed with a little touch of blueberry and the added sweetness function as a fantastic alternative to the intense bitterness of the original, whilst still retaining warmth and fullness to the taste. This makes it a herbal liqueur. It makes it the taste of later summer - year round.
